Corporate sustainability has become increasingly important in recent years. Companies are expected to use resources responsibly and protect the environment. But what exactly does sustainability mean for our company? How can we act more sustainably and what are the benefits?

For us, sustainability means that as a company we do not just focus on short-term profit, but also consider the impact of our business on the environment, society and future generations.

Ecologically, it is about using resources carefully, reducing CO2 emissions and minimizing environmental impact. Socially, sustainability refers to responsibility towards employees, suppliers and society as a whole. Economically, it is about long-term profitability and creating added value for everyone involved.

Companies that act sustainably help to preserve and improve living conditions on our planet and can at the same time be more economically successful.

How can we implement this in our company?

Our PV system

Key data:

Number of inverters: 11

Number of electricity meters: 2

Plant size: 112.8 kWp

Battery size: 77 kWh

Solar power generated (2014-2022): 705,847.2 kWh

By using the photovoltaic system, the electricity demand can be covered by converting solar energy into electrical power.

Benefits for the environment

According to the Solar Cluster Baden-Württemberg eV, 80 beech trees bind 1 ton of CO2 per year.

The Solar Cluster Baden-Württemberg is an association of around 50 companies, research institutes and associations from the field of solar energy. The main goals of the state-wide Solar Cluster network are to raise public awareness of the industrial and economic importance of solar energy, to actively develop the legal framework for the further expansion of renewable energies and to create a permanent market for solar energy.

The following article explains that photovoltaics significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions. To illustrate the quantities involved, the industry association has determined how many beech trees would be needed to bind the same amount of greenhouse gas. The complete article can be found at: www.solarcluster-bw.de/de/news

With our savings, this would look like this in 2023:

Our CO2 savings

  • CO2 savings 2023

    Own solar power -> 84,843.40 kWh *420g = 35.6 t

  • CO2 savings 2022

    Own solar power -> 92,022.50 kWh *420g = 38.6 t

  • CO2 savings 2021

    Own solar power -> 83955.50 kw/h *420g = 35.3 t

Currently additional planned CO2 savings for 2024:

    PV systems batteries: battery size 77kWhConversion of our heating system from oil heating to 6 decentralized heat pumps

DIN EN ISO 14001 Environmental management

ISO 14001 is the globally accepted and applied standard for environmental management systems.

It specifies requirements for an environmental management system that enables an organization to improve its environmental performance, meet legal and other obligations and achieve environmental objectives. The key elements are planning, implementation, control and improvement.

KEFF Check

Funding programme “Resource efficiency in companies”

KEFF is the increased implementation of measures in the area of resource efficiency. Given the high complexity of the topic of resource efficiency, industry-specific advice from qualified external consultants can uncover concrete resource efficiency potential in companies and demonstrate tailor-made solutions. This can support the performance of companies in regional and global competition and also make a significant contribution to sustainability goals.

Please click here for more information.

We have completed the KEFF Check and subsequently successfully implemented the following resource efficiency measures:

"Space and time savings through optimized material flow, use of self-generated electricity through electricity storage in addition to the PV system, energy management, lighting replacement."

We have received the first KEFF label in the Northern Black Forest region.
